Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; it-IT; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; it-IT; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507
When I try to get my emails from my account on tin.it (www.tin.it), an alert box
appears, saying : "The PASS command did not succeed. mail.tin.it responded:
invalid proxy password".
I tried to change my password, but it didn't help (I deleted the account and set
it again, deleting also the entries in the password manager which started with
"mailbox://"). Actually, I'm not able to see my email messages when I'm offline,
so this is a bug that prevent me from using the Mail Client at all.
Outlook retrieves all the messages, but I DON'T WANT to use Outlook anymore.
More, until Thursday everything was ok.
The problem begun when I installed Mozilla 1.4b. I tried to uninstall it,
deleted the directory, searched for junk registry entries and THEN reinstalled
Mozilla, but it didn't solved the problem.
I contacted for four times technical assistance on tin.it. They weren't able to
help me, since all the settings were ok, and they said that no change had been
made to their server last week.
Other email accounts work well. I'm not able to understand the difference with this.
SMTP on smtp.tin.it has no problem.
Please, help me!! This bug is a real problem!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Register an email account on www.tin.it (a little bit difficult for who
doesn't speak italian...).
2. Set up your email client as described in
http://help.virgilio.it/guide/dettaglio.jsp?id=3043
3. Retrieve your email (after you sent one to yourself, for example)
Actual Results:
An alert box appeared saying : "The PASS command did not succeed. mail.tin.it
responded: invalid proxy password"
Everytime I try to get my messages this shows up.
Expected Results:
Retrieved my messages as Mozilla 1.4a did before Thursday evening.
No SSL use. Port set as 110. Server : mail.tin.it (also tried box.tin.it).
Usrname w/ or without @tin.it (e.g. if your email is johndoe@tin.it I tried as
username both johndoe and johndoe@tin.it, plus johndoe#tin.it)
I get same problem on Mac system
I have just istalled Mozilla 1.4b (build 2003050714) on Mac OS X (V10.1.5 build
5566) and I'm getting the same problem. I'm using the same email provider
(www.tin.it) and after checking the emails configuration parameters client side
everytingh seem ok. With the previous version (1.3) I do not had problem
downloading email. My email client have the same configuration of the guy that
have open the bug excuding specific info about my account.
