did you uninstall the older version before installing 1.4?  if not, try doing that.

did you have any extensions or add-ins installed?  if so, try uninstalling,
deleting the mozilla folder under program files (your settings won't be
touched), and reinstalling.

For all XP (home/Pro) clients I have tested, upgrading from 1.3.1 to 1.4 : I see
the same crash. By uninstalling 1.3.1 and removeing the /Program\
Files/Mozilla.org/ folder then installing 1.4 this crash does _not_ occour. Have
yet to test any clients.

sounds like a dupe of 205277, which will be fixed by bug 210731.

Michael: what's the difference between  bug 195600 and bug 205277? Isn't the
latter just a dupe of the former, both to be fixed by bug 210731?

if you (after uninstalling mozilla 1.3.1) delete the mozilla folder under
program files, the you manage to install new 4.1

sabrina: please don't close bugs. The fact that there's a close button is a bug
in itself ;)
