Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 1-When I launch Mozilla and click on predefined folders (eg Inbox, Sent, Trash, etc.), the default view filtering works (I set it as the "Last 5 Days" one but it is the same behavior for other views). After that, if I click on other customized forlders, this default view still works (here, everuthing is fine). 2-However, when I launch Mozilla and immediately click on customized folders, the default view does not work. Mozilla always shows all messages instead of only the last 5 days messages while in the view windows, actually the "Last 5 Days views" is shown. In the first case, I can really see in the status bar, "Searching ...", "x matches found" (the filter works) and in the second case, I see immediately "Done". Back to the second case, to activate this default view "Last 5 days", I have to manually change it by the following step: - selecting another view (any one works) - and then select back the ""Last 5 days" view so that it works. If you immediately reselect this default view, nothings happens. I don't know if i did a bad manipulation resulting to this behavior or it is actually the expected behavior. In both cases, what should I do? Note: restarting the computer has no effect. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.First, change Mozilla view to "Last 5 Days", 2. create or select a personal folder (assume "perso") and in order to test the view, copy in there a message (assume M) which has at least 6 days and close Mozilla. 3. Launch Mozilla and immediately select the "perso" folder 4. Manually select another view and come back to "Last 5 Days" one. 5. Close Mozilla, reopen it and immediately select a predefined folder. Actual Results: after the 3th step, the message M is shown. after the 4th step, the message M is not shown. after the 5th step, the view "Last 5 Days" works fine (this step can be made independently from above ones). Expected Results: when the message M is in "perso", it should have never been shown according to the default view we studied.
This is basically a dupe of bug 206131, except nobody has reported that the customized view sticks sometimes -- it appears that changing the setting for one folder changes it for all, except that folders with a threaded view maintain their customization. Reporter, if you agree this is a dupe, please mark this bug accordingly.
>This is basically a dupe of bug 206131, This is not totally a dupe of bug 206131. My problem is not the fact that a given setting applies to all folders (it is an independent discussion). Here, I want to show how the view filtering engine automatically works after starting Mozilla: 1- if I immediately click on non-predefined folders BEFORE clicking on one of predefined folders, the filter does not work anymore for any subsequent operations unless I change views manually. 2- if I click on predefined folders AFTER clicking on customized folders, the filter does not work. 3- if I click on customized folders AFTER clicking predefined folders, the filter works (like if only clicking on predefined folders first (not second) automatically starts the view filtering engine). >...except nobody has reported that the customized view sticks sometimes I also tested the bug with "Unread" filter view, the bug still exists. I also manually set the "Unread" view for each folder, closed and restarted Mozilla but the bug still exists.
Is this bug still a problem? It looks similar to bug 217329, but that was a regression that popped up during 1.4 development and was (somehow) fixed by 1.6. If this problem is no longer present, please mark this bug Resolved|WorksForMe.
Reopened to fix resolution; my bad.
