As in Eudora, it would be nice if messages could be searched for using regular expression syntax.

Depends on the bug #86433 ? When we will have regula expression search in HTML, we can simply do it in the emails.

I don't think we want to support regular expressions in core.
It's a very niche thing that better fits an add-on.
