These are bugs that prevent Eudora users from switching to Mozilla. Placing
under Import component because there doesn't seem to be a general component. I
will add more dependencies later.

I was told to put this comment here:
"Since this is a "core" bug, can the title be changed from "Bugs that annoy
Internet Explorer users switching to Mozilla (IE parity)" to "Bugs that annoy
Internet Explorer, Outlook, and Outlook Express users switching to Mozilla (IE
parity)" or should another bug be opened for the mail component?

In particular, .eml handling and printing are real bugaboos."

Should this be Eudora/Outlook/Outlook Express?
No, make another bug for Outlook.

A couple of days ago my computer was E-jacked by Mozilla stating that Mozilla had just bought out Eudora and that I would have to re-register Eudora to continue my already registered version. I figured out how to get Eudora to working again by re-entering my Pop server and smtp server name. Net result is I've lost all my saved E-mails and I've lost all my bookmarks in Firefox and have ended up with an unregistered version of Eudora. Why should I have to pay again for software I've been using for years? My plan is to uninstall Eudora and uninstall Firefox from all of my machines. I don't expect a reply to this - nor do I care any more. Just thought I'd let you know I'm a VERY disatisfied customer.
Mark, Mozilla products such as Firefox and Penelope are free Open Source software (so you would be a "user" of those rather than a "customer"). If what you write is true, I would do a complete virus scan of your computer immediately.
I suggest Bug 359319 ("attachments: Option to have attachments stripped from message upon receipt") be on this list

Just some feedback,
all of this .... Mozilla-Penelope-Thunderbird ... language makes me and I'm sure other users totally confused.
I'm quite sure this all makes sense to those of you involved with these various platforms, but I do not understand why all the names, is there anyway to straighten this terminology out? I think all of this info is written for developers, and while I'm pretty computer savoy, I can not make sense of it.
    * When you create a group email list, the program does not allow you to later delete or edit one of the names in your group list without deleting all the names after it. Pretty frustrating as people frequently change addys but there is no way to update group email addy lists without destroying and rebuilding them.

    * the program auto suggested email addys after I typed the first few letters when I first started to build a group list, then it quit and every email addy added to the list had to be manualy entered, it quit offering suggestions to accept.
The import function for email addys does not allow going to a file specific location of the addy file that I'd like to import. When I updated from Eudora 7 to 8, it didn't keep my contact lists and when I tried to import, selected Eudora as the type to import, it blinks that its done and it didn't do it. I had to manually enter all email addys.

thanks guys!!!!
A couple of questions:
(1) Does verison 8 or OSE send our messages encrypted?

(2) if not, can we get that feature added in the next version?

Obviously knowing our emails are secure from outsiders is a big deal.

thanks

Summary: Eudora parity / migration tracking → [meta] Eudora parity / migration

Can we still use this bug as a marker ?
The point is not so much facilitating the migration from Eudora to Thunderbird (which is certainly minimal in 2024) but I think it's interesting to highlight / give some spotlight to key functions that were already available more than 2 decades ago in competing mail clients like Eudora but are still missing in Thunderbird today.
Case in point: search entire message (bug 229142).
