B) The same happens now with known attachments (with a correctly associated helper application). Mail suggests to start the attachment in the correctly defined application.... in the next step the application is NOT started but a jpg viewer is started hwich tries to visualize the attachment. This happens because again the .jpg is beeing appended. A) happenes all the time for the save to disk option for attachments. B) worked corectly until recently although I didn't make any modifications to mozilla !! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. click mail attachment and save to disk or start helper application 2. 3. Actual Results: ".jpg" is appended to the attachment and either the suggested filename for the save to disk operation is wrong or the wrong helper application is launched. (starts jpg viewer with any file type...because .jpg is appended to the attachment) Expected Results: not append jpg propose the correct filename to save to disk or start the (correctly identified) helper application interestingly just before the step of starting a helper application, the attachment is correctly associated with its helper application. Then agreeing to start the app, .jpg is appended? and a jpg viewer is staretd Yes I have searched the archive but found zaro
Do you have under helper applications any association for application/octet-stream or something for *jpg/jpeg? Delete these entries and retest it. Looks like bug 205381 which is a dupe of bug 189598. Similiar bug is bug 210958.
delete the octet-stream entry in preferences/navigator/helper applications *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 189598 ***
