When i choose "expand" on a bookmark folder, that opens automatically anyway,
the contextmenu disappears.

I can confirm this behavior on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040608 Firefox/0.8.0+.

How does removing that code affect bug 210910?  Also, that expand menu item is
in general worthless (see bug 243235), so the point might become moot soon if
all the Expand menu items go away.

If you're not going to install the context menu Expand function (completely
understandable, BTW) could the context menu item be deleted? It makes Firefox
look buggy.
