A message download window status where you can see the messages you have in each
acoount, the size of all the messages, and the posibility to cancel or abort the
download from any account.
When I click on Get Mail, this new window has to appear to show us all the
information.
Example:
Account 1: download message x from N
Account 2: download message y from M
Account 3: download finalized
Account 4: No messages to download
And the mails from all pop accounts might download at the same time and even
delete, abort or cancel all the jobs.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Get Mail
2.
3.
Actual Results:
In the status bar, indicate Receiving: message 11 of 23 for example, but it
don't show which account is working with.
Expected Results:
A separate new window with this information:
by example:
Account 1: download message x from N
Account 2: download message y from M
Account 3: download finalized
Account 4: No messages to download

A status window (does 'message download window status' mean that?) is an
important feature request. I don't know why such a useful window hasn't already
found it's way into thunderbird.
The actual statusbar solution doesn't really work for me. It's mostly empty,
even there is a message download ongoing, it doesn't show from where it receives
messages and canceling message downloads is simply impossible.

I strongly second this request! The status bar is not informative enough. It
does not tell me, which account is currently being sync'ed or downloaded,
neither, how much work is still ahead. This bit of information - how long it
will take and how much of the job is already completed - should be visually present.
Of course there should be an option to hide such a window

I would appreciate a status-window (like there is one in Outlook-Express), too.
At the moment I get no information about
a) how many mails are in the pop3-mailbox
b) how much space (Kb/MB) is used/available/total in the pop3-mailbox
c) if errors occures with the last download.
I think most of the OE-Switchers would really like to see such a status-window!

howdy y'all,
[1] my tbird info ...
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051201 Thunderbird/1.5 - Build ID: 2005120115
[2] a detailed download info display SOMEWHERE is really a useful thing. tbird could truly benefit from one. comments #0 and #3 both list adequate details from my point of view.
[3] REQUEST - change "severity" from "normal" to "enhancement".
[4] REQUEST - change bug title to something a bit less obscure. perhaps something like ...
- [rfe] detailed download display
- [rfe] detailed download status window
take care,
lee
I strongly concur with this enhancement - although I do consider it of a higher priority than "normal".
The (minimum) info that I would like to get is:
* To which servers TB is connecting
* The status of each connection, such as:
- connected - no new messages/downloading 4 of 11 messages
It must be stressed that this information *really* ought to be a la "Outlook" - as a scrolling info where each of the info above is shown as one line after the other [as is typical for e.g. extensions for TB] will NOT make this feature usable in real life.
Now that I am "at it" - I would (built into this status window) like the outlook-feature of being able to "cancel download" for a specific account if it seems to either be having problems or simple having too much stuff/blocking for the next accounts...
Background...
The source for my "problem" is that I have 16 eMail adr. and when checking eMail I have no clue as to "where" in the process I am [unless I stare fixedly on the status bar as it "reports the progress" (rather fast) from the moment I click "get mail" and until it is done], if there were problems with a given/random server? etc etc
