Using the new-to-1.8 feature for downloading only the headers of POP mail: When a new message has its headers downloaded, you can then drag the message to another folder, and holding down the Ctrl key during the drag makes a copy of the message. Assuming local/POP folders (ref bug 249445), displaying this message in either folder shows the same "Not Downloaded / click here to download rest" notice. This operation will work in either location. However, if the message is removed from the server during the download of one instance (server setting: "leave message on server" unchecked), when the "click to download" link is clicked in the second instance of the message, it fails. The message entry is removed from the threadpane with no indication of a problem; the preview pane continues to display the Not Downloaded notice (similar to bug 192870). (I notice that the case of "leave on server / until delete", then: Move to AFolder, OR {Copy to AFolder, Delete from Inbox}, and then downloading from AFolder, works -- that is, the message is downloaded when the link is clicked.) I'm not sure what might be done about this. Ideally, a headers-only message would simply not be allowed to be copied, but that's probably a hard thing to do.
Bug 248742 Comment #4 can describe why second(copied) partial message was lost after additional download of first partial message. So set dependency to it. See also Bug 249361.
