User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040707 Firefox/0.9.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040707 Firefox/0.9.2 I have http://o2.co.uk and http://www.cbfsms.com/ In my bookmarks toolbar folder. I visit the o2 website, their icon appears in the toolbar. I quite firefox, start up again and the icon for the o2 website is also the icon for cbfsms. Please note I have moved the location of both sites on the toolbar and this doesn't affect the behaviour. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.clear cache 2.put o2 site and cbfsms site in bookmark toolbar 3.visit o2 site 4.restart browser to find o2 icon in both places Actual Results: the o2 icon was the icon for the two said websites instead of just the o2 website in the bookmark toolbar. Expected Results: not put the o2 icon as the cbfsms icon in the bookmark toolbar
I don't get any favicons on those two sites. Moving to FF as I belive this is their code. This might be bug 259993
Product: Browser → Firefox
I've seen this too. In particular, I have a book mark for the straightdope message boards, which keeps picking up some favicon for some other site: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/forumdisplay.php?forumid=3 If I remove the bookmark, and reassign it, it eventually winds up with some random favicon.ico from some other site (at the moment, it is showing the Google favicon). Note that boards.straightdope.com/favicon.ico does not exist - it should be left blank. If I look in bookmarks.html, it has added the icon as a base 64 encoded "ICON" attribute. Somebody else recently noticed it as well and reported it on the "about this message board" forum of that message board.
duping to the older bug as this report was with Firefox 0.9. The problem has been reduced in current versions, but still exists and is now bug 271359 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 174265 ***
