The current popup Thunderbird mail notification dialog has room for three lines
of text, but only uses two. The first gives the account name, and the second
gives the number of new mail messages (unless the IMAP filtering bug hits you,
grrr). Would it be possible to use the third line of text to provide the folder
containing the new email?

I think the original purpose of this idea is obsolete starting from tb3 where the new mail notification provides direct links that will show new mail messages in their target folder.

Maybe it could be morphed into something more useful, like showing in the notification one or two lines with links to folders that received new mail. With multiple accounts, and multiple new messages (especially if you don't read them before the next poll), imo the current new mail notification is not very easy to understand and could be more helpful.

Thomas, Any further thoughts on that?

My main problem with new msg notification from system tray is this (mainly POP):
1st poll: 5 new msgs a,b,c,d,e - showing up in notification (don't read them)
2nd poll: another 5 new msgs f,g,h,i,j - and now the new (2nd) notification shows something useless (imo) like 10 new msgs, but you still only see the "old" new messages from 1st poll in the 2nd notification: a,b,c,d,e. So unless you read everything in the main 3pane, you'll never see the newest msgs in notification (which I think is wrong; newest should be at the top). Anyway, I don't care much there's probably more important things then the notification.
