User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3
Every time I tried to use <BACK on Firefox or EXIT on Adobe Reader 6, Firefox
would lock up ("program not responding" in task manager XP pro)
This problem does not occur with the same web site same documents in ie6.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Went to PriceWaterhouse site
2.Clicked on info in PDF format
3.After reading document, could not get back to Firefox browser
www.pwcglobal.com/extweb/pwcpublications.nsf/ docid/C2A82DF2F68D262F802569A1004F6835
Actual Results:
The screen went information blank, leaving the Adobe header and side rails in
place but locked up. The Forefox header went blank.
Expected Results:
Close Adobe 6 and show the originating website in Firefox.
I do not remember the module, and I do believe the error was caused by the Adobe
software. If you open the link in a separate / new Firefox browser, everything
functions normally, and you can close that Firefox with the Adobe Reader 6 normally.
This time spent in reporting this situation is to help any software that has the
ability to displace Microsoft. Thank you for the release of Firefox, and
Thunderbird, even though I have issues with Thinderbird that I will relate to
your organisation after fully exploring the software. Perhaps my lack of
experience is causing those issues. Like learning to open Adobe Reader 6 in a
new window.

Works for me in "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040812
Firefox/0.9.1+" and "Adobe Reader 6.02".
If you haven't already, please try upgrading to Reader 6.02 since I believe
there was a known problem with 6.00.
p.s. When filing a bug always try to be as precise as possible, give the exact
steps that someone else would need to take to reproduce your problem (including
URLs and the names of links that need to be clicked). This makes it easier for
your bug to be confirmed, thanks.

One or more PDF documents are open inside a web browser. If you exit Adobe
Reader now, those documents will be closed. Are you sure you want to exit? ('Do
not show this message again' check box - Exit - Cancel)
I've been having the same problem with (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0;
rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10.1) hopefully a.k.a. 1.0-Preview Release.
I am using Adobe 6.0 w/ Windows 2000. I think it is noteable that firefox
shifts to 100% CPU utilization when this error occurs. I expect (inexpertly)
that this problem has something to do with the --One or more PDF documents are
open inside a web browser. If you exit Adobe Reader now, those documents will
be closed. Are you sure you want to exit? ('Do not show this message again'
check box - Exit - Cancel)-- dialouge box that Adobe throws up. Sometimes this
dialoge box is in the foreground and I don't have a problem, but sometimes it
ends up in the background (Especially when the PDF document has been opened
through Firefox in a new window rather than a tab) - when I decided to check "Do
not show this message again"
239414, 198954, 253128, and 252048 for simular (if not identical) problems.
Current Firefox window with Reader embedded freezes as does any other Firefox
window (in WinXP). Need to use Task Manager to close Firefox - note Adobe Reader
pop under then revealed warning that a PDF document is still open in Reader.

> Replace Adobe Reader 6.0.0 with 6.0.2 to overcome this problem.
UPDATE: Go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2679 for
the latest Adobe Reader 6.0.3, released 13 December. The process is to download
6.0.1 and then use the Updates menu entry within Adobe Reader 6.0.1 to update
your system to version 6.0.2. After that you can download 6.0.3.
"Enterprise/IT administrators may find it more convenient to start with full,
uncompressed versions of Adobe Reader 6.0.2 before applying the update to
version 6.0.3."
Adobe Reader 7.0 coming soon...
I tried 6.0.2 as suggested and then 6.0.3, they both performed flawlessly.

Nor can it close correctly when you close the browser
I believe updating to Firefox 1.0 and latest versions of Adobe Reader means this
item should be moved to FIXED

I'm seeing this problem with Acrobat 7.0 and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT
5.0; en-GB; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041110 Firefox/1.0, Windows 2000. Increasing
severity as this hangs my browser on a regular basis.
Severity: minor → major

Problem was all PDF downloads would freeze FF 1.0.1 and only a Crtl-Alt-Del
could end the session. After FF was shut down, then Adobe 6.0 exit or continue
dialog box would appear. System is brand new EMACHINES W-3050, with all latest
MS XP Home updates.
Fixed this in FF Tools>Options>Downloads>PlugIns by unchecking the PDF Adobe
plug-in box. The first time a PDF file was selected for download, FF brought up
a select an application to do this download dialog box. I then navigated to the
Adobe application and selected it, and also selected make this the application
to use for this type of file. Also turned on the Close the Download manager when
all downloads are complete box in the Downloads main dialog box. This has worked
and also appeared to increase the PDF down load speed.

This may also be an issue with Adobe Reader 7.0.*, too.

Hang when Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.0 is DUP of Bug 214137.
Crash when Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.0 is DUP of Bug 204017.
These problems are already resolved by Adobe Reader 6.0.1.
If problem occurs even when 6.0.1 or 6.0.2, check whether old version(for 6.0.0) of PDF plugin is kept in Plugins directry of Mozilla/Firefox or not.

David Brittain and Charli Li, problem when Adobe Reader 7.0.x seems to be different from problem when Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.0.
See dependency tree of Bug 336184, and read bugs for 7.0.x.
Summary: Adobe Reader cannot close and return to Firefox browser page → Adobe Reader cannot close and return to Firefox browser page (Acrobat Reader 6.0.0)
