User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040707 Firefox/0.9.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040707 Firefox/0.9.2
There are two different methods of downloading a file, and they each remember
their own "last directory." They should both use and update the same thing.
The applicable preferences are "browser.download.dir" and
"browser.download.lastDir". These two should be merged.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Remove any automatic action associated with *.zip files. [Optional
Replacement: Choose a file type for which there is no automatic action.]
2. Navigate to http://www.geocities.com/dmwit/ [Opt. Rep.: Find or create a web
page with a link to the file type chosen in Step 1.]
3. Click Zork 3. [OR: Click the link found in Step 2.]
4. Choose "Save to disk" and save in directory FOO.
5. Right-click Zork 3. [OR: Right-click the link found in Step 2.]
6. Choose "Save link as..." from context menu and save in directory BAR.
7. Repeat Step 3 and choose "Save to disk"
Actual Results:
The dialog box is opened in directory FOO.
Expected Results:
The dialog box should be opened in directory BAR.

Oh yeah, and the workaround: Just navigate to the folder you want to save to,
you lazy, complaining bum!

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

Jim, did your work fix this by chance?
Comment 8•17 years ago
|

Yes I believe it did. I merged a number of download dir prefs in that patch.
