I'm seeing the same thing happening about once an hour or two using Mozilla 1.7.2 on Win XP (except my CU goes hard to 50% because I have a P4 with Hyperthreading) It usually goes away by itself after a few minutes and Mozilla becomes fast again. I cannnot identify a single activity that causes it, but it usually seems to be while I'm typing in a textarea (probably coincidence because I usually am). I've totally rebuilt my profile fram scratch, and uninstalled all Mozilla products and reinstalled - no improvement. I've tried 1.8 nightlies, etc, no luck. I installed XP SP2, no change.
