Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3
Build Identifier: version 0.7.3 (20040803)

I need to set up two different news server account over ssh-tunnels. So I tried
to set up two tunnel, one mapping localhost:10119 to server1:119 and one mapping
localhost:20119 to server2:119. And yes, I need to do so because there are two
different news servers with access restricted to a certain network.
Problem is, that tbird won't let me set up the two accounts because I can have
onl one account per server.
My workaround would be to set up a redirect in my host file but of course that
would suck.

Please make tbird distinguish between servers by the port number, too.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up first news server with localhost 10119.
2. Set up second news server with localhost 20119.
3. See tbird refuse to do as it's told. Bad, bad software *wigglethreateningfinger*

Actual Results:
See Step 3.

Expected Results:
Accept the account, of course. Sorry for being sarcastic...

No crash, just software that thinks it's smarter than it realy is. But this is
my first problem with tbird so far, good job.

I don't expect you to fix this very soon, even though it should be easy :-(
try using 127.0.0.2, 127.0.0.3, ... alternatively you can edit
%windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and add server.localdomain 127.0.0.1

Well, that's why I set the severity to 'minor' -- because a reasonable
workaround exists. But I still think it would better to discriminate servers
also by the port and not just the IP address.
Maybe someone would like to run several news servers on the same machine for
some reason... than everybody reading more than one of the servers would have to
enter fake names into hosts to be able to.

C.
