20040909 trunk When you tab from address pane to the subject, and then to the body, there is no caret. If you click in one of those areas the caret appears.
It is not just Thunderbird with the problem. mozilla trunk build 2004091105, W2k Reply to a message, there is no caret in the message body until after a mouseclick within it. It makes mail-news pretty hard to use for keyboard users like me. Wouldn't that make it an accessibility issue, too?
Looks like it started with mozilla trunk build 083108. The caret appears as expected in build 083008.

This sounds like bug 257581: "Cursor doesn't appear in MailNews Compose Window, although you type something."
This is working in the trunk now.
WFM, too, with win32 trunk build 092605 :)
