User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/125.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/125.9
Build Identifier:
I have 4 addresses visible. I added a fifth and went to remove the first, which had scrolled off-screen. I
hit shift-tab from subject, got to the 4th visible email address. shift-tab again took me to the 3rd
visible. I continued shift-tabbing and it went from the first visible back to the body pane, rather than
scrolling to the first (offscreen) address.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a new email message.
2. add enough To: or Bcc: or Cc: addresses that some are off-screen.
3. try to shift-tab back to the earlier, off-screen addresses.
4. Notice that when you shift-tab from the top-most on-screen address, you return to the body frame.
5. Notice that when you shift-tab from the body pane you get to Subject, then to Addresses, but only
the Addresses that are visible on-screen.
Actual Results:
Step 4.
Expected Results:
Shift-tab from the top-most visible address should scroll up the addresses window to show the 'last
off-screen' address, etc. Only when you have scrolled through all of the addresses (visible or not)
shift-tab should take you to the body tab.
This is in Thunderbird 0.73. I had to back out of 0.8 because of another bug I'll enter (if it isn't already
entered) imminently.

I can confirm for TB 0.8, shift-tab will not scroll the address list like it
should, and thus skips past some of the addresses.

Back to the body pane, or to the From: dropdown?

With TB 0.9, Win2K, I am seeing Shift-tab scroll the list downwards to bring
items into view, just as tab will scroll the list upwards.
I do see that tab from the From: dropdown, or shift-tab from the Subject, puts
the focus on the visible item at the top or bottom of the list, but once there
the other items are still accessible; but that seems OK to me.
Alan Danziger, do you still see this problem with current builds? It could be a
Mac-only issue.

I do still see this on thunderbird version 0.9 (20041103).
Enter 5 or more entries into the "To" list.
Tab to "Subject" and enter text
Tab to body and enter text
shift-tab and you get to subject as expected.
shift-tab and you get to the 4th (bottom-most) visible item
shift-tab and you get to the 3rd
shift-tab and you get to the 2nd
shift-tab and you get to the 1st visible item
shift-tab and you get to the message body.
Alternatively, if you scroll up with the mouse and select the top-most "To:" (some of which can be CC,
BCC - I'm just using 'To' as the identifier of the box) you can tab (w/out shift) and it'll cycle through all
of the addresses, then to Subject, then to Body.
OK I just tested it on Windows and it does two things differently, both of which I guess make sense --
(a) it works, (b) it lets you tab to the drop-down menus (From and each of the 'To/CC/BCC').

Ryan Rubley, are you also running TB on a Mac?

No, 0.9 on Windows. This issue no longer exists. Shift+TAB works fine now. Did
not work in 0.8 Windows, but is fixed now.
Tab scrolls down through the whole address list, but Shift-Tab only selects the
visible items. I'd guess that this shouldn't be too hard to fix.
I cannot shift-tab from the message back to the subject line. TB 1.0+ 20050601

Wayne, still broken in latest 2.0.0.x or trunk nightlies?

on windows anyway, expected result of comment 0 is easily recreated. tested with trunk. shift-tab from subjects goes to last _visible_ address, not to the last address in the list, where last address is not visible.
HOwever, perhaps present behavior is correct?

wfm release 68.8.1 (32-Bit) and Daily 79.0a1 (2020-06-03) (64-bit).
shift+tab from subject will scroll invisible addresses/address fields into view and focus them (correct).
