User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041006 Firefox/0.10 Build Identifier: version 0.8 (20040913) I have a filter which moves list messages from my IMAP inbox to a local folder. A new mail notification is displayed but it says "0 new messages" since the inbox has no new messages. I looked for a generic bug which covers mail notifications in general but didn't find one. My particular problem isn't really a duplicate of bug 253146 though it sounds similar. From reading about all the related problems, it seems obvious that the filter/notification system needs an overhaul. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a filter to move incoming messages from your IMAP inbox to a folder in "Local Folders". 2. Send a test message to your IMAP account address. 3. Witness the message "my-email@nowhere.foo has 0 new messages" in the mail notification pop-up.
I should add that the new mail envelope is shown in the system tray (WinXP) despite the confusing "0 new messages". Also, it may or may not be related but I will also add that the account icon in the left folders pane displays the "new messages" icon despite the fact that no folders (inbox or other folders in the IMAP account) have any new messages. The state of the account is not being updated following the move.
(In reply to comment #0) > I looked for a generic bug which covers mail notifications in general Please don't open any "generic" bugs. > From reading about all the related problems, it seems obvious > that the filter/notification system needs an overhaul. Enhancements to the code are solicited. http://www.mozilla.org/hacking/ (In reply to comment #1) > the account icon in the left folders pane displays the "new messages" icon > despite the fact that no folders (inbox or other folders in the IMAP account) > have any new messages.
