found using 2004110105-0.9 on linux fc2. in the tbird 3pane window, File > Quit (Ctrl+Q) is fine under linux --however in the Address Book and Message Compose windows say File > Exit (Ctrl+Q). those windows should have the same text as the 3pane window's menu. Marcia, how does this appear on Mac? is this also inconsistent on Windows?

On the Mac, in all three areas you can select File | Close or Command W, so it is consistent.

I should've clarified for Mac: the Thunderbird application menu consistently lists Quit Thunderbird (Cmd+Q). Marcia, thanks for checking the File menu there. so this bug is specific to Linux.
Summary: File > Quit menu item needs to be consistent across windows → [Linux] File > Quit menu item needs to be consistent across windows

What should it be in linux apps? File / Exit or File / Quit? If you look at Firefox on Linux we can just do what they do.

let's use File > Quit, as that's what Firefox uses.
