Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
When restarting Thunderbird after doing a quick search on e.g. "Entire
Messages", the quick search displays correctly "Entire Message" in grayed out
text but in the drop down list "Subject Or Sender" is selected. It should also
point to "Entire Message".
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Quick Search a folder on "Entire Messages"
2. Close Thunderbird and restart
3. Have a look at what it displays in the quick search edit box and what is
marked in the drop down list
Actual Results:
Wrong item is marked in the quick search drop down (always "Subject Or Sender")
Expected Results:
The actual search scope should be selected
Used the default scheme.

This bug is still there in Thunderbird 1.5. I've made a patch for this problem (attached).
The patch includes also 2 new search options:
Subject or To or CC
Subject or Sender or To or CC
I've tested the patch and it "works for me"
Please integrate this patch into the next version of Thunderbird 1.5.

This symptom appears to be fixed in TB 2.0a1-0303 (branch) and TB 3.0a1-0303 (trunk). Possibly collateral to bug 328795.

Patch for additional search fields
You need to request reviews before patches can added to the source code...
I'm not sure we want to complicate this UI, but I'll request review from mscott...

Patch for additional search fields
I'm not interested in cluttering up the search box with these additional options. I would be interested in a patch that enables extensions to easily add more options to this box though. I think that would be really cool!
That and this discussion should really be moved to a new bug as it doesn't involve this one.
