Here it is. I have used OE for a long time for reading newsgroup messages. I
have been using thunderbird since version 0.9 and recently started using it
exclusively since it has features that I really like (sharing between Linux and
windows). However, two one of the most important features (for me) is missing.
First one is, being able to delete a message/thread from view so that I see only
the messages (read/unread) that I want to see. In OE, it is possible to delete
it from view by CTRL+D, or edit>delete. I have been searching for help on
several forums, but things that are suggested missess the point that there is a
difference between cancelling a message and deleting a message. Cancelling is
used to delete a message by the author from the server, whereas deleting it only
removes it from view. So please please include something to delete a message
from view.
Second one is about filters. And it is also somehow related to the first one.
When I want to run a particular filter, I should be able to run it similar to
the filters that ae used for mails. That is, there should be a "RUN NOW" button
that can be used whenever one wants. Additionally, these flters should be able
to delete the messages. Even though there is an option to delete a message, I
don't know whether it works or not. Because I am not able to test the filters. :( 
And it would be great if there were contextual menu items where one can select
"block sender" or "create filter from message". I don't know how difficult to
add these features but if these are done, TB will be the best email client and
newsgroup reader.

you should really open a separate bug for the second one. once you open one i
can mark this as a duplicate of Bug 250141.
