*** Bug 281520 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
confirmed on Windows XP Firefox trunk build 2005-02-08-07-trunk

I also noticed that the sidebar is open it doesn't switch from History to
Bookmarks dynamically. The title of the sidebar changes but not the relative
content. The sidebar must be closed then reopened with the keyboard/menu item
for the desired item to open in the sidebar. Perhaps that is related to this
bug? If not, let me know and I'll file another bug against the sidebar.

is bug 281493 possibly related?
This is also on Mac from the 02/08 trunk build.

As reported this is a smoketest blocker. However, a workaround is to select the
item (ie Privacy), click Okay to dismiss the options dialog, then reopen the
options dialog. The Privacy option window will be open.

this isn't even the prefwindow we're going to be shipping in 1.1, so it sure
won't block the release. Now, there may be a general problem with content that
we need to investigate.

Any JS errors etc?
Flags: blocking-aviary1.1?
Nothing present in the JS console.

This is also affecting Thunderbird. It's a smoketest blocker there as the
workaround doesn't have any effect. Options is stuck in the General options
window, which is empty.

cc'ing myself as I see this in todays Thunderbird build as well.
is seamonkey affected? I don't think we've diverged much in our implementation
of prefwindow IV, so this seems like its something in the backend, but I don't
have time to poke people.
The only changes to toolkit yesterday where some changes to our implementation
of listbox (Bug # 98595). Maybe that change broke the listbox we use in the
preferences window. Testing that theory out now....
It's broken on Seamonkey trunk builds today too. Stuck in Navigator pref window
(the default).
I backed out the listbox changes to mozilla\toolkit and the problem is still
present.
I checked/rechecked.
This still works in the 20050207-16:07
Meaning this regressed between 15:53 - 00:00

I have:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8b) Gecko/20050208

and after Edit>Preferences, it's always at the "Navigator" panel.

There was a new patch checked in for bug 280992 and it may/should fix this one.

In that case, shouldn't it be "core" instead of Firefox?
