previous message button in thunderbird does not function

The same works with the Buttons extension but the botton there are not attractive!!! Any suggestions. Thanks for the wonderful software otherwise. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click on the previous message button 2. 3. Actual Results: doesnot go back one message, goes to the unread message though Expected Results: should go back one message

Which build of Thunderbird? This works for me. Note that the Next and Previous buttons are designed to go to Next and Previous UNREAD message. The Go To Previous Unread function does not skip back to an earlier folder.

I think the Reporter would like a previous/next button for all mail, not only unread mail. I suggest either changing the subject+severity or -->WFM
