Build id: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050729 Firefox/1.0+ The Sanitize feature is a great feature that most of the browsers have. Even the upcoming IE 7. What I feel though that the implementation is not as simple as it should be. One of the things that I love with Firefox is that it's very simple to use. Most of teh geek stuff suite had are not in the GUI, but you can still modify it the way you can via about:config. The Sanitize feature implemented could be simplified by only having one dialog. As it is now, it has 2, one to do the actual sanitization (tools/Sanitize Firefox) and options for it (tools/options/sanitize settings...) Why not one single dialog? Only keep the one under /tools/ and remove the one under options. Just take the "sanitize on shutdown" and move it to the Sanitize dialog under /tools/ Imho this would minimize the amount of dialgos used in Firefox and make the browser simpler.
Summary: Simply Sanitize functionality → Simplify Sanitize functionality
I sorta agree with this, though there should be a button to just save settings and not sanitize IMO. Also if you have it set to sanitize on shutdown and ask you before doing it, the button to not sanitize shouldn't be cancel IMO

Summary: Simplify Sanitize functionality → Simplify "Clear Private Data" functionality
The dialogs are poor at expressing their differences. The one in the pref panel sets the default settings for what should be cleared when the one in the tools menu is called. Using the exact same dialog causes confusion, here. Really, the Clear Private Data settings should be their own prefpanel, and the tool should be a quick confirm-and-fire dialog.

I think as proposed, this should have been WONTFIX, but we've simplifed things a great deal for 3.5.
WFM now, I think, or WONTFIX is someone prefers.
