Build Identifier: thunderbird-1.4.de.win32.installer.exe (=1.5b1)
If you sync a contact from a Palm to the Thunderbird 1.5b1 Program, then the

you will see a small symbol with the text “obj” on it.
Reproducible: Always

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/extensions/palmsync/1.5b1/palmsync.xpi
3. Change the Sync Options at HotSync to "Handheld overwrites Desktop"
4. Start a Sync
Actual Results:
The Thunderbird shows the Characters ä, ö, ü, ß like small boxes with the label
"obj".
Expected Results:
The Thunderbird should show ä, ö, ü, ß Characters like ä, ö, ü, ß Characters.

This is a character set issue, duping to bug 237624

this is in fact not a dupe of bug 237624. It is a regression starting with thunderbird 1.5. (As Sven indicates the 1.4 German version is equivalent to thunderbird 1.5b1.)
