i have a Jokes mailing list. with all my friends. naturally, my address book contains many more emails.

when i receive a joke from one of my friends, i want to send it to the others, but not to the original sender. it would be nice if i could open the mailing list and select only some addresses to be included in the to/cc/bcc. multiple selection is a must.

it would be even nicer, if the mailing list could contain other mailing lists. then i could create mailing lists for cliques of friends and when receiving mail from one, only forward to those not in its clique (by not selecting that mailing list from Jokes)

Reproducible: Always
This may or may not help, but, you can do the following:

In address book, click on a mailing list. Then, in the mailing list, select all the people in the list you want to send a message to, right click, and pick "Write". That will bring up a compose window with those people on the To: list.

1. initiate forward message, keep compose window open with an empty to: bcc or cc field
2. open address book
3. in the left pane expand the address book containing the mailing list
4. in the left pane click on the mailing list (do not open/double click)
5. in the address list on the right showing the contents of the mailing list, select all the addresses to get the forwarded message
6. click and drag the addresses into the open to: field in compose window

this is ineed bug 40301

ittayd@qlusters.com, does this address all your needs?
opening address book, adding one by one doesnt help who fwds lots of mails...
in ms outlook 2003, when we type the list name in 'to', a '+' symbol appears in front of that. we can expand it by clicking that and remove any person from the list. such an option is required in thunderbird also. selecting contacts one by one each time will not help when the no of people are more...

i dont have option in my office to use MS outlook 2003. that is why i am using thunderbird. ppl who fwd lots of mails and who use distribution lists frequently will really hate thunderbird
