User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

Password Manager window > Passwords Saved tab does not remember the sort order (by Site, Username or Password). It will always default to a sorting by Site ascending. Everytime I open this window, first thing I do is sort by Username. I'd be handy if Firefox remembers this.

Other improvements to this window would be:
1) Remember the window size. This is a regression since Firefox 1.0.7, who did remember it. (The window top-left position is remembered however.)
2) Show visual indication of the current sorting column, e.g. the sorting column header is blue. The Bookmarks Manager window has this, for example.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In the Preferences, open Password Manager window > Passwords Saved tab
2. Change the sort order by Username
3. Restart Firefox
4. Repeat Step 1

Actual Results:
Passwords are sorted by Sites, always

Expected Results:
Passwords are sorted the same way than the last time I viewed this window
Maybe related to Suite bug 211352?
I was able to reproduce this bug using Mac OSX 10.4.10 and Firefox 1.5.0.12, 2.0.0.4 and Minefield 3.0a6 nightly-latest. The following is what I tried to reproduce the bug:

1. Launch Firefox
2. Navigate to gmail
3. Enter gmail credentials and allow firefox to save
4. Navigate to facebook
5. Enter facebook credentials and allow firefox to save
6. Navigate to hotmail
7. Enter hotmail credentials and allow firefox to save
8. Navigate to ubuntuforums
9. Enter ubunutuformus credentials and allow firefox to save
10. Navigate to fedoraforum
11. Enter fedoraforum credentials and allow firefox to save
12. Open Password Manager and sort by username
13. Close Password Manager
14. Restart Firefox
15. Open Password Manager

The sorting is not retained when sorting by username, but it is retained when sorting by URL.

I don't think the sorting by URL is actually retained. It just happens to always start with that sorting as default.

Note from bug 388313: if we do persist the sort order, the column for the passwords probably shouldn't be persisted... The theory being that it might leak some info about the password values. [Although, really, not showing the password is wishy-washy "security" anyway.]
IMHO there is no security issue; the problem documented by Bug#29737 (selection retention being spatial and not specific to the selected item), however, is a "fit & finish" issue which might have been resolved since 2005/06/14...
