In Thunderbird 1.5 (final) german the following happens when forwarding or replying an eMail (note, that the eMail contains the predefined signature of the same person, i.e. the original mail was also created on the PC of that person - when for example replying to your own newsgroup postings).

Expected Results:  
1. It should be possible to configure "Reply" to generate the same "full header" as "Forward". When replying to an email it often is important that the date and topic of the original mail is also included.
2. The original signature from the bottom of the original mail should not automatically be removed, since it is part of the mail - and a reply and forward action should always "attach" a 1:1 copy of the mail (and not something that was automatically shrunken). IMHO.

The inclusion of the original headers is bug 218258.
An option not to remove sigs is bug 201581, altho the reasoning is different from yours.

Pick one of these and dupe this bug to that one.

See bug 171822 comment 30 for information on getting the original message's 
date in the reply header.
