First of all, kudos for the excellent support for scrolling wheels in Mozilla.
It works great.

It does not work, however, in drop boxes on a form. As an example, when I am
filling in this form and I have to pick which component, I can use the scroll
wheel to scroll up and down. When I have to pick an OS, however, the drop box
form doesn't fit in the window, and a scroll bar appears on the right side of
the drop box. However, scrolling the scroll wheel doesn't operate the drop box,
but instead scrolls whatever I had been scrolling previously, whether it be thw
component window or the whole window, whatever.

This is on Win98 SE with the 3/20 nightly build. As always, screenshots are
available on request.

As usual, bringing in bryner@uiuc.edu. Is this a dupe?

I want to re-evaluate this bug when gfx scrollbars in dropdown boxes are turned
on. I think this is happening soon.
bryner@uiuc.edu - what's the score here?

(BTW, my mouse wheel is now working; dunno what you did, but nice one :-)

Gerv
I tried this with Build # 2000051808 on Win 98SE. Behavior was reproduced every
time. Scroll whell works in component box, but not in OS box. I also tried it
with Netscape 4.72 to see if problem was with form. I Was able to scroll both
component and OS forms with NN 4.72
bryner@uiuc.edu - could you have another quick look at this one? Cheers.

Gerv
confirming bug, where should this be moved to? Moving to html form control for
the time being.

I've got an idea what's going on here.. there are some interesting interactions
between the native scrollbars on the page.

Brian, just before marking http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39970 a
duplicate of this one, you said:

Testing just now on win32, it does scroll the dropdown list. I can test Linux
when I get home. What platform did you see this on?
-------------------------------------------------------
I just tried this with a 7 June nightly build, and I can only scroll the whole
page. Using IntelliMouse drivers on WinNT 4sp6.
When scrolling up in form select boxes wheel will loop around to bottm after
reaching the top (M16 on win98)
The "wrap-around" is fixed in tip builds (fix checked in on 6/5, M16 branched on
6/2).
back over to bryner, who should update current status.

I'll leave this as assigned... we do still scroll the page instead of the
dropdown in certain cases on Windows (and always on Linux). I've got a fix
which I'll try to get in for beta3.
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Keywords: nsbeta3
Marking OS:All since the entire page gets scrolled on both Windows and Linux.
OS: Windows 98 → All
This is really 33733, I think.

Looked at 33733 and verifying as a duplicate.
Both involve scrolling and drop down boxes.
This bug is about Moz not scrolling the drop down, whereas 33733 is due to the
drop down not being closed up when the scrolling scrolls the page. Seem
different problems, but I agree that the general cause is the same (drop down
box scrolling not handled correctly) but are seeing the bug from two different
angles.
Suggest summary alteration on 33733 to something more generic?
'Scrolling in a drop-down box not handled correctly' ??
(cross posting suggestion)
