If my Inbox is selected and I change the folder view, the inbox is still loaded in the thread pane, but it is no longer selected in the folder pane. We should re-select the folder.

I'm not sure what we should do if you cycle to a folder view where the folder you were looking at isn't listed...

Yes, this is very annoying! I have a self-hacked extension that adds a "Compact This Folder" button to my toolbar, but when I switch folder views, the displayed folder is no longer selected, and so 'MsgCompactFolder(false)' doesn't work - at least not on the folder I expect it to.

To date the selected and opened folder (in thread pane) is kept around in folder pane views even if does not fit unread. 
But is not kept in favorites if not favorite. And after going in fav view is not kept at all.


 If there would be an indicator that this is the "currently selected" there would be no confusion in keeping it around folder pane rotations. Even favs. 
*variants if does not fit in unread or favorites:
-alt text 'current selection' (may be there all the time) so that a confused user rolls over and see, aha ...
-underline or italic or gray , different extra style 
-separate section top or under folder tree?
