There are 2 major issues with the developer tools ui that I can see

First is that there are 2 different logins presented on the front page of AMO, one is apparently for developers the other for normal users.  There really isn't any distinction however drawn between the two locations, however what access I have and what changes the ui makes varies between the two systems.

If I login for instance as a user, I will be presented with my name at the top telling me that I'm logged in.  If I'm logged in as a developer I'm not given the same cues.

Second is that there is only one link to access the actual dev tools, via the "submit your own" link on the front page.  However this is suffers from several problems.  First, it's easily confused with the regular login (see above), second it is only available through a single location, third it's label has little to do with what most developers are doing which is editing or updating existing addons.

As a basic proposal it seems like it would make sense to combine the two login schemes into on universal login, and to track dev logins in the same way you would a basic user login, presenting their name at the top.  This would also create an excelent place to feature a "my addons" link that would take  the dev at any point in his browsing to the management console for his addons.  Also giving devs a location to login from just viewing their addons might also be a nice idea.

Anyways, I just always get lost trying to figure out how to login.

Using a single login is bug 342983

The UI for getting to the developer tools does suck though.

Under Develop Your Own I think it should be:
Developer Control Panel
How to develop extensions
How to develop themes

Any ideas?

We unified the logins, and I think clarified the navigation significantly by putting it all in the left side bar.  Fixed.
