User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1b2) Gecko/20060826 BonEcho/2.0b2 Build Identifier: version 2 alpha 1 20060828 the last working build I had installed was from 25.08. After an update today the message listing looks like the attached screenshot - unusable. This is after a clean install, no extensions, new empty profile. Reproducible: Always see 2nd attachment for display properties. The Notebook is rather old and Dell does not offer any more recent display drivers. And as stated before - TB 2 a1 worked fine on that machine until I installed this branch nightly.

wow, now I'm confused: I went back a few builds, the issue remains. Even on a 2006-08-20 TB 2 a1. The only other thing that changed on this computer since last week (when TB seemed to work normal) is an update of Quicktime Software to latest 7.1 - could this have anything to do with the broken display in Thunderbird I wonder?
I change the summary since I noticed the following, especially when looking at an RSS feed: When I open TB, select an Inbox, the message list at first appears normal. Once all messages are loaded TB starts to draw this background gradient behind every other line and when doing that the text becomes corrupt.
Summary: display of the message listing corrupt → background gradient causes corrupt message list display
todays TB 2 nightly still has that issue. I went back to the official TB 2 Alpha 1 installer and that does work again without corrupt listings. If anybody starts to work on that issue I can reinstall current nightlies to test ...
Version: unspecified → 2.0
I do now have something similar happening in Firefox 2.0 betas, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353283 It's becoming a serious issue for me

When I upgraded from 1.5.x to Thunderbird 2.0.0.0 version (20070326) I started getting this bug. I'm running Windows 2000 on a ~5-year old Dell Inspiron 8000 with all the latest Dell Windows 2000 drivers, ie nVidia GeForce2 GO, v.44.25, A17. I am have been getting overlapping text in Firefox tabs, over the last couple months, as reported earlier in this bug report. With my message-listing pane unreadable, Thunderbird is nearly unusable; I've been making do for a few hours and will probably need to rollback.
