setting the preference: get only mailheaders.pop3 handling
Its only possible to decide in each mail for deleting or getting the body.
You have to click the getbutton in the mailline
It would be nice to get a list with all mailheaders and references and a checkbox- column to decide quickly which mailbody should be deleted, fetched, fetched and deleted.
On Pegasus Mail you have an good example for this feature.
this is important to check lots of mailheaders
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.

The feature you want already exists, but it's not obvious: as you go down the list, you can flag each message whose body you want to fetch. You can flag using a context menu on the message (Mark|Flag), or you can show the Flag column and simply click in the column to set the flag.
When you have flagged all the messages you want, select:
File | Offline | Get Starred Messages
Alternately, you can select the messages you want and use
File | Offline | Get Selected Messages
If this solution works for you, please mark this bug Resolved | WorksForMe
Note: "Flag" is changing its name to "Star" in the upcoming TB 2.0 release.

This is a method to fetch or fetch not the messagebodys.
But it would be smarter to have a window with the options:
to fetch
to fetch and leave on server
to fetch and delte on server
to delete
so you can check lots of mails easily and when diffrent people check the same server you can leave certain mails for other accountusers.

First of all: Deleting the message is done by deleting the message, which you can do by multiple select if you don't want to delete message-by-message.
If you delete a headers-only item, the messagebody is deleted from the server the next time you check mail (unless, possibly, you have:
checked "[x] Leave Messages on Server" and
unchecked "[] Until I delete" unchecked
-- I haven't tested this case).
The three Fetch options you suggest are really only two -- you can only leave on server or delete from server, there is no third option. It is true that there is no per-message control for server deletion; bug 47297, bug 263327, and probably others are about this. But that issue is separate from fetching the body.
you are wright the first line option is waste, comment was given to fast.
the point is, as you write, you have to check the boxes in the preferences first
and you have an permanent choice about leaving bodys on server.
the discussions on b 47297 and b 263327 are about this questions.
But how about putting these (bugs)featurerequests together in one solution by using a comfortable selecting window.
Duplicate of bug 332615 -> Core bug 267974.
