Details
(Whiteboard: [keep this open for tbird][see core bug 264030])
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0
Build Identifier: version 1.5.0.7 (20060909)
When using Windows XP with MultiHead and UltraMon and moving the maximized window
from one screen to the other, Thunderbird doesn't remember this position on
restart.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have a Windows XP MultiHead environment with UltraMon running
2. Be sure that Thunderbird starts on one (doesn't matter which) screen in
maximized mode - let's call it "Screen 1"
3. Move the maximized Window to the other screen - let's call it "Screen 2"
4. Close Thunderbird
5. Restart Thunderbird
Actual Results:
Thunderbird starts on "Screen 1"
Expected Results:
Thunderbird starts on "Screen 2"
I don't know whether it is relevant: I have 2 profiles and always have to select
a specific profile on startup. The window position is saved profile-specific (this
is working properly).
WORKAROUND:
===========
1. Start Thunderbird (window starts on "Screen 1"
2. switch the window to "restored" mode
3. Close Thunderbird
4. Restart Thunderbird
5. Move the window to "Screen 2"
6. Close Thunderbird
7. Restart Thunderbird (window now should start on "Screen 2" in restored mode)
8. Maximize Window
I'm not sure whether all closes and restarts are necessary, but that's
how it worked for me.

There seems the same issue in Firefox 2.0.
I checked the workaround I provided and I could simplify it:
1. Start Thunderbird (window starts on "Screen 1")
2. switch the window to "restored" mode
3. Move the window to "Screen 2"
4. Maximize Window

Reporter, Can you confirm whether this problem is gone, or still exists on a current version of thunderbird?
We are working to help old bugs move along, so your comment will be helpful.

It is neither working on TB 2.0.0.18 nor on FF 3.0.4

Armin, are you using version 3 yet?

I switched completely to Debian, so I can't provide feedback for the exact situation. On Debian, I'm using version 3.5.8 of FF and 2.0.0.24 of TB. Both show the same issue, so I assume it would also appear with windows.

I agree with Wayne's whiteboard entry that this should be kept open for tracking purposes in Thunderbird (e.g. to avoid duplicates in TB product) while we're waiting for blocking core bug 264030 to be fixed. -> confirming
