Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1
Build Identifier: version 2 beta 2 (20070116)

When I do a clean installation, setup a POP3 account with the wizard and download mail from the server, an hourglass symbol appears instead of the mouse cursor forever.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Thunderbird 2 beta 2 (en-US)
2. Run Thunderbird, don't import anything, create Email account (POP3):
3. Fill all fields as usual, use Global Inbox; User Names and Account Name - leave as is, use the suggestion.
4. Select 'download messages now', enter password.
5. Thunderbird "hangs" - hourglass symbol appears forever (click on the Inbox if it's not focused).
Actual Results:
Hourglass symbol appears instead of standard mouse cursor taking time forever.

Expected Results:
When Tb is not busy, the cursor should be normal.

Thunderbird is normally responsive, clicking on menus, folders, etc. works as expected, Tb doesn't eat any CPU cycles. After restart everything is back to normal and can't be reproduced again.
thx, Karel - I'll take your word for it these two problems are the same - this bug doesn't mention the alert, but given what we were doing before, I can imagine various strange things would happen.
