User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070219 Firefox/2.0.0.2
Build Identifier: version 1.5.0.9 (20061207)
When typing a line of text and pressing backspace from either
- the end of the line or
- anywhere in the middle of the line
the cursor ostensibly deletes the text, but the window doesn't refresh as well as it should, as a result leaving artifacts. Also, when typing sometimes, the character appearing at the cursor is in fact right ON it (in the center of the cursor), rather than being behind it. As a result, the character is chopped into half.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. New Message compose window (text mode)
2. Type lines of text in message area
3. Go to end of line or middle of line and press backspace
Actual Results:
The screenshot is posted above. There is a row of artifacts left behind when the cursor goes back.
Expected Results:
The area should be clean.
Pressing the right click button on the mouse over the affected area - resulting in the context menu, or maximizing the window clear things up for a while.

More comments. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the bug, but this version of thunderbird is using a profile which I imported from a Linux installation of t-bird.
Imported, as in, copied the 8dfsdhsjd.default directory into the Profiles directory and changed the .ini file to reflect the new name.
FYI.

I experience this same problem relationship to the problem reported in Bug #295852.

iirc this shouldn't be happening in version 2.
I don't see this in version 3.
