I have a saved search that I use to aggregate unread/flagged mail from multiple accounts. Thunderbird adds a 'Location' column with the name of the folder each message comes from (which, as an aside, is 'Inbox' regardless of the account, since the inbox is called 'Inbox' in both accounts). I can remove the column, but changing to a different folder and back makes the column reappear.

david, does "location" column reappear "by design"?
Severity: normal → minor
yeah, when you're in a cross-folder saved search, we display the location column so you can know which folder a message is in.
Note that this bug is not about whether it is added or not by default. I just want to be able to remove it and have it remember that (since this is a saved search, I return to it often). There's also the problem that it's useless in my case (I don't really use folders, so it always says 'Inbox', regardless of which account's inbox it's in), but that's a separate bug imo.
yep, in general, we only remember the column configuration on a global basis, not per-folder (there's an RFE out there to make it per-folder). Yes, just saying inbox is a separate bug, and a lot easier to fix. We already do it for things like the mru folder menu.
Why would I care what folder it's in? I can do everything I need to in the search folder. I am using a vertical view (narrow thread pane) and this just gets in the way.
bug 259609 might fix, or might not. but it's a starting point.

I'd like to add my support to the resolution of this bug. I use a saved search as a Global Inbox for 3 IMAP accounts and the constant reappearance of the Location column is a nuisance.
