Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. mkdir ~/tb_de 2. cd ~/tb_de 3. Download http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/126.96.36.199/linux-i686/de/thunderbird-188.8.131.52.tar.gz 4. Unpack it: tar xfvz `basename http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/184.108.40.206/linux-i686/de/thunderbird-220.127.116.11.tar.gz` 5. cd thunderbird 6. run "./thunderbird -ProfileManager" 7. Create a new profile 8. Start that profile -> You'll see the account wizard show up and display 5 account types; among them is "Google Mail" 9. mkdir ~/tb_en-US 10. cd ~/tb_en-US 11. Download http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/18.104.22.168/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-22.214.171.124.tar.gz 12. Unpack it: tar xfvz `basename http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/126.96.36.199/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-188.8.131.52.tar.gz` 13. cd thunderbird 14. run "./thunderbird -ProfileManager" 15. Create a new profile 16. Start that profile 17. Cancel the account wizard 18. Open Add-ons manager by using Tools -> Add-ons 19. In a browser, go to ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/184.108.40.206/linux-i686/xpi/ 20. Drag "de.xpi" to Add-ons window of Thunderbird, to install the de.xpi "extension" 21. Open "about:config", by going to Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Advanced Configuration -> Config Editor 22. Change locale to de, by setting general.useragent.locale to de 23. Quit Thunderbird 24. Start Thunderbird again, using the profile created in step 9. -> Account wizard will be shown. It'll have only 4 account types; "Google Mail" is missing Expected Results: I'd expect that the "Google Mail" account type would be supported when installing the de.xpi German Language Pack as well.

Equally broken with Czech langpack.
Equally broken with all locales, but after looking at locales/Makefile.in for a while, I know even less about how to fix it, and I think I injured my brain.

Summary: After installation of de.xpi on 126.96.36.199, no more Google Mail account type shown → Language packs don't include isp/AB_CD/(gmail|googlemail).rdf
I don't expect this to work. I'm not sure if this is supposed to work, given that - gmail has trademarks problems in some regions - we deal with those by regional defaults - we only ship one, as part of the build - we ship none as part of the language pack Whether the fact that we're not including profile defaults into the language pack is a major problem or not is debatable. Note that most users will have gone through the profile creation wizard a long time before they're able to actually install a language pack, this really only affects installations aiming at multiple installed languages for a bunch of users. Which may be more of an issue with Thunderbird than for Firefox. Not sure if we could fix this on the branch without busting the string freeze.
We no longer ship gmail.rdf/googlemail.rdf as this has been replaced by the account configuration wizard. Closing this bug as we no longer need it.
