User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.6 (20070728) Search does not find any messages when searching for a specific tag. If I search for messages that DOES NOT contain the tag I'm searching on, messages with that tag will still show up. E.g. if I tag a message with my custom tag FOO and then do a search (Shift+F) with any of the following criteria Tags is FOO Tags contains FOO the resulting search is empty. However if I instead search with any of the following criteria Tags isn't FOO Tags doesn't contain FOO the search will list both messages that IS tagged with FOO and messags that IS NOT tagged with FOO. However if I save the search as a "saved search" it will work as expected... If I do a search on a tag (say FOO), search will find no messages Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Tag a message with a label (say FOO) 2. Press Shift+F and search for messages tagged with FOO 3. No message will show up in search 4. Save search as a "saved search" 5. Go to virtual folder, which will show correct result Actual Results: Searching on tagged messages does not work, but saved searches on tags works. Expected Results: Searching on tagged messages should list messages with the selected tags
Duplicate of bug 355318?
Version: unspecified → 2.0
No, this is a different bug. Bug 355318 is about migration of configuration data when going from 1.5 to 2.0. This one is about the search function, which is broken when it comes to tags regardless of the number of tags/labels a message has.
Bug 355318 is not about converting the "data", it's about converting the view code. Still would guess it's a dupe.

Yes, I think you are right! The explanation for bug 33883 matches the behavior I experience (I also use an IMAP server). So I think this bug can safely be marked as a dup of 33883.
Duping to bug 378883 then.
