User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 2.0.0.6 (20070728) After Thunderbird was upgraded from 1.5 to 2.0, the forward and back buttons are disabled in Read Mail window. This causes me a problem, as I used to open the newest unread mail in my inbox and either delete it or use Forward button to move to the next mail. This way, I used to quickly delete all the unwanted items and was left with items for action. Since T'bird 2, the 'back' and 'Torward' buttons are disabled in mail view. They are OK in folder mail list. This is a duplicate of 379790, which I was unable to add comments to. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Select an unread mail from any folder (e.g. Inbox)(double click on folder item) 2.Observe that Back and Forward buttons are disabled when using T'bird 2.0 3. Buttons should be enabled to allow me to move to next unread mail item. The previously viewed item should remain in place in the folder if it was not deleted/moved.
The Next and Previous buttons work fine for me. Did you confuse them with Back and Forwards? (David explained the difference in bug 379790 comment 1)
I just changed my toolbar to use Next and Previous instead of Back and Forwards, on your tip. This is an improvement of sorts, as the Back and Forwards buttons were greyed out completely and the Next and Previous buttons are at least clickable. However, nothing happens when I click them. Nothing at all. This problem is making Thunderbird almost unusable for me.
You realize they only operate on *unread mail*? (bug 235666)
Apologies if this appears twice ... problems with the PC touch-pad. Since upgrading from 2.0.0.6 to 2.0.0.7, the previous and next buttons do the functions that back and forward usd to do in 1.5. So I can close this bug report.
