Details

While bug 398751 tracks things that cause us a major problem, this bug here should track "Core" fixes that would help the Gecko-1.9-based SeaMonkey 2 release.

Anything in "Core" that would ease development of that version for the SeaMonkey team, making the app cleaner or nicer and still has a somewhat realistic chance of getting into 1.9 should go up here.

"Core" in this context means everything shared with XULRunner/Firefox, which is rapidly nearing freezes currently.
Also, we are only interested in things here which are not otherwise already marked as blocking 1.9, we are only tracking things that are we want to see for SeaMonkey but are not needed for general 1.9, which might not be fixed otherwise and which still have any chance of making 1.9 (things that obviously have been denied or glorious wishes don't make sense here).

Please only add bugs here if you are in the SeaMonkey Council or in the team of people actively working on SeaMonkey 2 - everyone else, please nominate relevant bugs via comment, along with good explanations of why they cause major headaches for SeaMonkey 2.

And remember, only bugs here that are affected by Firefox/Gecko freezes - everything else can be tracked with other nominations.

I think short descriptions of why we'd like those would be good:

bug 68702 - chances might be low for IPC to make it, but we could get built-in PGP/GPG support for mail with EnigMail inclusion.

bug 325353 - the tray icon code would make a replacement for the previous "turbo" feature possible.

bug 377881 - language switching in EM would remove the need to re-implement the language switching pref panel, not place theme and language switching in different windows and nicely hide UI language selection for everyone that has only a single language running (the default case).
bug 407899 - would make work on toolbar customization significantly easier

Re-purposing this bug for general SeaMonkey-on-modern-platform (2.0 and higher) versions, as we shipped the initial SeaMonkey 2.0 series already.

There are still core bugs worthy of tracking, i.e. that would make our lives easier, let's continue to do that here without focus on any specific release.

Also, moving one issue here we could ship with but don't like to (and now have a potential workaround for but the actual bug has some progress):

bug 349985 - needed so that the logo on "About SeaMonkey" links to the correct
page, and we have linkified relnotes there. A nasty workaround may be possible.
