Firefox will not allow me to play any sounds on the browser it's self. Tried to see if it was my computer. Sound works great with both my computer sound and IE browser. Very frustrating.

Today before I downloaded a couple of ad-ons Fox was running fine, after the update I noticed that sound didn't play a web page that usually played sound. Figured it was a problem with that page and went on with my usual business, later downloaded Foxytunes and a few others. When I realized there was a problem I disabled them to see if it was this feature that had created the problem. No go. Searched Google and Fox database for answers. Got nothing. Help please?

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce
Which web site?
I checked four sources of online sound. First my personalized Google has a jingle. Second was You-Tube, third Stage Six and lastly was Google Video. I have no sound feed from the internet through Firefox. All the visual feed is perfectly normal, it's just that I have absolutely no sound. Internet explorer works fine for all of the websites (I wanted to double check.)Everything is perfectly normal. I've no viruses, all my Fox ad ons are disabled, and everything is as it should be..... except I have no sound.

Please open for example a youtube video that is playing with sound, then open the windows mixer (right klick on the speaker icon in the taskbar), there should be a setting for firefox wih volume and mute button.

duplicate of Bug 407554?
I also have no sound using Firefox. IE is fine and dandy on the same computer. Windows Vista OS. OH and Matthias? It is not volume control on YouTube. Or My Space. Or Flikr. It's Firefox. The same page loaded on IE versus Firefox for any of these applications or embedded DOES NOT PLAY SOUND.
I didn't mean the sound control in the flash video, I mean the windows vista sound control.
If an application plays sound, vista has a sound volume mixer for each application.
You can mute the sound for example with Firefox and you are still be able to hear sound with Firefox, or the opposite.
Additional note: Firefox doesn't play sound at all !
Yes, that's right !
Either a Plugin plays sound using the windows API, for example the flash player or firefox asks the windows api to play a sound for a standard action.
Firefox for example can not mute the flash plugin. Oh, and of course there are 2 different types of plugins for web browsers :
NPAPI: All browsers inclusive IE4 and IE5
ActiveX: IE6,7,8
t's not muted. In Vista or anything else. And it worked just dandy until the 3.0 upgrade on Firefox. AND if you look there are numerous other folks having the same issue include half my blog readership.Makes no difference to me I will just go back to IE until it clears up and tell my readers to do the same thing until Mozilla decides to look into this.

So thank you KINDLY for your uber l333t bitchy geek skillz.

Not.

probably bug 436686 (see bug 416841) - Adobe Flash had sometimes sound problems (all your example websites use Flash). Please upgrade to the latest Flash (version 10)
