Automatic Organization would allow to have bookmarks and folders sorted automatically.
Ideally, "Automatic Organization" should change sorting to have its own menu:
Sort
|---By Name
|---------------- (separator)
|---Automatic Organization (check box)
Reproducible: Always

This bug is about an option to tell Firefox to automatically sort the users' bookmarks, as explained in Description.

The menu shown in Description would appear when right clicking a bookmark or folder. It's compatible with the menu shown in Description of bug 404540.

Ah, I see. Changing the summary accordingly. Is this one OK?
OS: Windows XP → All
Hardware: PC → All
Summary: Add option "Group Folders" to bookmark sorting to have them automatically sorted → Add an option to sort newly-added bookmarks automatically according to the chosen criteria.

You can, of course, edit your own summary by clicking “edit” at the end of it.

I changed the "newly-added" part, since I'd like _all_ my bookmarks to be sorted automatically.
Summary: Add an option to sort newly-added bookmarks automatically according to the chosen criteria. → Add an option to sort bookmarks automatically according to the chosen criteria

Having an option to do this is WONTFIX, imo.
We should, however, probably be remembering a user's sort criteria automatically.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".
In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.
Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
