why show stars in the bookmark sidebar, items will be all starred, what's the advantage in showing ALL the items with a star?

imho we should have stars in the history sidebar, but only tags in the bookmarks sidebar...

marco, to clarify your recommendation:

in history sidebar, show star (or nothing) when searching
in bookmark sidebear, show tag (or nothing) when searching

is that correct?

yes it's correct, i can't see any additional data telling the user that his bookmarks are starred...

Yeah, that's right. The history sidebar should show stars and tags like the locationbar drop down does, but the bookmarks sidebar should just show tags.

Of course, what I'd really like to do is have a combined history and bookmarks sidebar, but that seems unlikely at this point.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
