There is a bookmark folder on my personal toolbar which contains no bookmarks. It has appeared fairly recently; unfortunately I can't remember which build. If I look in manage bookmarks, there is no "Bookmarks" folder under my "Personal Toolbar Folder". I would actually like to be able to remove it and free up some toolbar real estate since I can access all my bookmarks from the Bookmarks menu.
Please always inform about which build ID you use when submitting a bug.. This works for me on build 2000-052620. As a general hint: You may have to delete your ~/.mozilla dir to get things to work OK when you install new versions. Marking as WFM.

Actually, if his problem is that there's no bookmarks, there's already a bug on that about the menu being ~2px (which i also see)..this might be the same but in any event, I think he still wants to know in general how to remove the bookmarks button from his personal toolbar
He says he has a bookmark folder, so it must be more than 2px wide. There is no problem with this on the recent linux builds. However, a general advice earlyer posted on mozilla-site about vanishing bookmarks, was to simply delete the bookmarks.rdf file and restart - it will then get recreated. Creating a clean profile in general tends to solve even more of these "apperant" problems.
Tested on Linux build 2000052608. I renamed my .mozilla directory and re-started mozilla and the Bookmarks folder dissappeared. Of course, so did all my bookmarks. I am using a symbolic link from .mozilla/default/bookmarks.html to my bookmarks file. I have an NT/Linux dual boot machine and this allows me to share my bookmarks between Linux, NT, Mozilla, and Netscape. When I remove the bookmarks.html file and replace it with my link, the problem reappears. Please re-open since I can't due to bug 36905.
slamm/claudius: Is this a valid bug? Please reopen if it is.
This is still happening on Linux build 2000060508.

Reporter: please try again with a recent nightly, after ensuring that you've deleted your entire mozilla directory and mozregistry.dat, and any other traces of mozilla.

This is what I did: 1. Rename .mozilla to mozilla-bak. 2. Start mozilla (build 2000061314) - Default bookmarks show up and the bookmarks folder on the personal toolbar is still there but it actually contains bookmarks) 3. Quit mozilla. 4. cd ~/.mozilla/default/linnt/Netscape/Stephen/bookmark.htm bookmarks.html 5. rm bookmarks.html 6. ln -s /linnt/Netscape/Stephen/bookmark.htm bookmarks.html 7. Start mozilla again. - bookmarks folder on personal toolbar is still there but it is empty. Personally, I would like to get rid of the bookmarks entirely from the personal toolbar since I can access it from the top-level bookmarks window and I could use the space for something else but that is covered by bug 39332.
Step 4 should be: 4. cd ~/.mozilla/default Cut and paste problems...
try removing all of the default directory, could be a rdf corruption.
Assuming corrupt bookmark.htm file, because it works for you with the default profile. For everyone else, also their personal bookmarks work fine after new conversion from NS 4.x for example. Marking INVALID.
