Thunderbird 2.0.0.9
I have three POP3 accounts set to deliver mail to the global Inbox. All of the accounts have "Leave messages on server" enabled. After I read messages I delete them, but every biff pops up an envelope in the tray to show that I have new messages (I don't). Switching to another folder and back removes the envelope from the tray, but then it returns again. After going through a few iterations of this it stops appearing in the tray anymore until a legitimate message makes it through.

Deleting popstate.dat from each account just causes all of the previously downloaded messages to be downloaded again and the behavior repeats itself.

I have a similar problem with Thunderbird v2.0.0.12 under Windows XP Home. I have 12 accounts and all deliver mails to the global Inbox and I have "Leave messages on server" disabled for all accounts. When I receive new mails the Inbox folder name is shown in Bold text with the count of how many unread mail in the Inbox and the Tray icon appears. When I read the new mails the counter is decremented by every mail read and remove when it's zero and all unread has been read. But sometimes the Inbox folder name is still in bold text and the tray icon is still shown and when I receive new mails I don't get any indication and sound to bring my attention to the newly received mails. To get all back, I have to select another folder, ie. select the Unsent folder (it doesn't matter which folder I select, just that I unselect the Inbox). I have this problem many times every day and I hope it can be solved soon. Thanks - I just love Thunderbird.

No. I use Thunderbird open, not minimized and the problem is when I receive a new mail and read it, the counter for how many unread mails goes to zero and the number is remove from the Inbox folder name. "Inbox(1)" change to "Inbox", but still in Bold text and tray icon don't disappear. It doesn't matter if I leave the message in the Inbox, delete it or move it to another folder.
When I then select another folder, it correct it self, but next time a mail is receive I may have the same problem. Unless I manually select another folder I will not get any indication, when new mails is received.
It never indicates new mail unless one is received.
