Running Thunderbird version 2.0.0.9 (20071031) on Windows Vista, if I edit a draft message, select some text, then press Ctrl+], nothing happens, but going to Format->Increase Indent works. They should have the same effect.
tested TB version 2.0.0.24 (20100228)
tested TB 24.0a1 (2013-05-16)

* English keyboard layout:
wfm

* German keyboard layout
confirming as a bug:

I'm on a German keyboard layout where ] and [ alone already require pressing Ctrl+Alt, because they are the tertiary characters of 8 and 9 keys in top row. So I'm not actually sure what to press to get Ctrl+(Ctrl+Alt+8/9).
Any advice?

(Perhaps this requires different shortcuts for non-English keyboard layouts?)

...where Ctrl+Alt is same as [Alt Gr] key on German keyboards.
I think it's impossible to press Ctrl+[ on German keyboards, but I'd like to hear what others think.

The Finnish keyboard is almost the same as the German. {[]} and so on are accessed with AltGr, i never used Ctrl+Alt to simulate AltGr and indeed it doesn't seem to work at least on linux.

Since AltGr works I'd be tempted to just leave this as is.

Thanks Magnus for quick reply. I'm not sure I understand:
- Leave what as is?
- And what doesn't work?
- And what exactly works for you? Does the shortcut work to trigger indenting?
- If yes, what keys are you pressing?

My problem is that I don't know which keys I should press to get the shortcut which TB expects to be Ctrl+]; I tried many combinations and none work to trigger indenting. Should I press:

Ctrl+AltGr+]? (where ] is the number key which has 9 and ] on it)

Will TB internally recognize that as Ctrl+]?

On linux I can press Ctrl + AltGr + 9 to indent. Apparently that doesn't work on windows though. (Googling suggest the AltGr+ numbers may often be taken system wide by various drivers.)

The "leave as is" was for if it's only that you can't simulate AltGr with Ctrl+Alt and get the shortcut - while AltGr itself would work.

I tried this on a non-English keyboard layout on Linux and when trying Ctrl+AltGr+] (AltGr+] being the combination that produces ] on this layout), the indenting does work.
