Long subject lines are common in some environments, eg bugmail.  Dan, is calendar another?. With "normal" headers in single line, the inability to see the full subject on many of one's messages is more than annoying, it's unproductive. 

An improvement would be to right align the address with time on the far right.  Or simply remove the address because more often than not one already knows who the message is from or to:
* in the message's signature
* from the thread pane (most people prob. show one or both address columns)
* from the subject or context of the message
etc.

Not an issue if you are full screen on a decent screen or windowed with a big screen.  But when not full screen, or on a laptop, or when you show more than 6-7 columns in the thread pane, or (as suggested above when the subjects are ALL long) - the full subject line often isn't visible in the thread pane, nor is it fully visible in message preview.

Restrained mysulf from requesting wanted-thunderbird3 for the moment.  
(this could be a dupe but I'm not finding it ATM)
