Bug 428759 simplified things, by adding a PNG active throbber for Pinstripe instead of switching from a PNG inactive one to a GIF active one, but didn't bother looking for and changing consumers other than Firefox, so now you have no active throbber, and need to switch the two instances in the URL field over to .png.

Using a PNG animated throbber might work great on trunk, but since we release from MOZILLA_1_8_BRANCH which doesn't support APNG, we won't be having an animated throbber unless we keep the .gif.
On the other hand, I haven't really noticed the throbber :-)

Sure, you'll have to #ifdef like usual (or fork like usual, that tends to be the safer way), and I don't have a clue where it actually appears - that's why I didn't just fix it ;)
