Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008061004 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 2.0.0.16 (20080707) Person A receives an email sent by Person B. Person A clicks reply, but the address used as the To: of the reply is that of Person A. Thus, clicking reply sends email to Person A, not Person B as intended. Both persons A and B are using Firefox 2.0.0.16 on Mac OS X PPC. I am unsure whether it happens with other platforms. The following email was sent by Person B to Person A and demonstrates the problem when replied to. (Email addresses have been altered to reflect person A/B to avoid spam.) Return-Path: <personb@biberdorf.com> Delivered-To: persona@paradosis.user Received: (qmail 24319 invoked by uid 503); 11 Aug 2008 13:27:07 -0000 Delivered-To: biberdorf.com-persona@biberdorf.com Received: (qmail 23917 invoked by uid 503); 11 Aug 2008 13:26:51 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO ibook-g4.local) (personb@paradosis.com@70.255.142.36) by server262.com with ESMTPA; 11 Aug 2008 13:26:51 -0000 Message-ID: <48A03E16.50604@biberdorf.com> Date: Mon, 11 Aug 2008 08:26:46 -0500 From: Person B <personb@biberdorf.com> User-Agent: Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 (Macintosh/20080707) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: "Person A" <persona@biberdorf.com> Subject: Re: Table References: <48A02E8A.9000309@biberdorf.com> In-Reply-To: <48A02E8A.9000309@biberdorf.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Doesn't it say 5 feet? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Send an email from Thunderbird OS X 2. Recipient using Thunderbird hits reply Actual Results: To: address is that of the original recipient Expected Results: To: address is that of the original SENDER.
This appears to be bug 377998, which is fixed for Thunderbird 3.0. Since it is not quite sure from your description if the two identities are mapped to the same account or are in the same domain, please check if one of the scenarios in that bug report matches your situation. Also, if you can't reproduce it in the Shredder Alpha or trunk nightly builds, the issue was likely fixed in that bug.
It sounds like this is a duplicate of bug 377998, as you indicate. (I was unable to find that bug in my searches.) Both email addresses are in the same domain, and both email addresses exist as identities on the machines involved. I'll try the Alpha release ASAP.
